Nkitaku Village in Agulu, Anaocha Local Government Area, hats staged a protest at Nkwo Market, Agulu, over the demolition of their ongoing shop construction project meant to house the Building Materials Market, as directed by Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
Led by the chairman of Nkitaku village Agulu, Mr Basil Emegwamuo, the group lamented that the issue began soon after they sold a portion of their land to an individual in the community who they alleged later started claiming the portion they are constructing the new building materials market to enable them relocate from the Nwagu axis where they are staying currently to make way for easy flow of traffic.

An investor, who is also an indigen of the village, Mr Frank Anyaeche regretted that he came back from overseas to invest in his town in response to the call by the government to bring investment home, but is experiencing hardship due to alleged frustration by some individuals, calling on the government to come to their aid by putting an end to the issue so that they can complete the shops and start their business.

Reacting to the development, the President General of Agulu Town union, Mr Emmanuel Ibeneme and the Youth leader of the community, Mr Eric Mmaduagwu condemned the act in its entirety, saying that it is very wrong to waste people’s sweat in that manner, but assured that they are working hard to bring the issue under control.
