Valentine’s Day: Recreation Centres, Business Activities In Full Swing In Awka And Environs

As the world yesterday marked 2026 Valentine’s Day, different parts of Awka, Anambra State witnessed increased social activities, as bars, clubs and fun spots boomed, as lovers, families and individuals trooped out to celebrate Valentine’s Day. 

Along the roads, people were seen adorned in white or red coloured clothes, clutching gifts such as, cakes and frames amongst other items.

The atmosphere at Asian Point Bar, Amaenyi Awka was electrifying, as the Bar was filled to capacity, with popular Ogene musician Egyke Nwamba performing to the delight of audience, and the owner of the Bar, Mr Elochukwu Nwosu, said the safe and secure atmosphere Anambra State currently enjoys, made it possible for Ndi Anambra to be out  enjoying Valentine’s Day with families and friends.

At the Fire Fly Cafe,  Aroma Awka, people were seen  trooping-in to mark the day, as the Manager, a Syrian, Mr Zad Alahari, said he was happy to celebrate Valentine Day in Anambra State, and to invest and tap into the potential of the state given the enabling environment provided by the state government.      

One of the heads of Non-indigene groups in Anambra State, Prince Chigozie Nweke said Valentine’s Day is about selfless love, just like Jesus Christ and Saint Valentine did for the world and not a day for any sort of immoral behaviour, appreciating Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s love for both Ndi Anambra and Non-indigenes.
