It was a spectacular manifestation of cultural splendor as officers and soldiers of 302 Artillery Regiment, Onitsha and 14 Field Engineers Regiment celebrated year 2025 combined West African Social Activities,an age-long Nigerian Army social event where the soldiers come together to celebrate their various cultures and tradition,renew spirit of comradeship .
The colourful event which took place at the Military Cantonment Onitsha Field, attracted dignitaries, various security agencies, family and friends of the soldiers, including the General Officer Commanding 82 Division Enugu,Major General Oluremi Fadairo and Anambra State Governor,Professor Chukwuma Soludo among others.
Speaking during the event, Governor Soludo represented by his Special Adviser on Security,Air Vice Marshall Ben Chiokwu,said since his assumption of duty on 17 March,2022,he has made it a Cardinal duty to be present at such event as one of the ways to appreciate members of the armed forces, particularly the army for the sacrifices they make to keep the country, particularly Anambra State safe and secure.
In a welcome address, the Commander,302 Artillery Regiment, Onitsha, Colonel Mohammed Yakubu highlighted that Combined Onitsha Cantonment West African Social Activities 2025 was a day set aside for the soldiers to momentarily step away from the rigours of training, operations and administrative routines, come together in celebration, unity and thanksgiving, commended Governor Soludo for his continued support to the Nigeria Army and other security agencies operating within Anambra State, and all officers and soldiers for their unwavering commitment to duty, while the Commander 14 Field Engineers Regiment, Lieutenant Colonel Erick Kpamber acknowledged the presence of sister security agencies which he said will further strengthen the inter agency cooperation in their collective effort to maintain peace and security.
