Ifite-Ogwari Traditional Ruler Igwe Ofuebe Celebrates 25th Ofala Festival

The traditional ruler of Ifite-Ogwari in Ayamelum Local Government Area of Anambra State, Igwe Alphonsus Ofuebe, has celebrated his twenty-five years Ofala festival, honouring some individuals in the community and beyond.

Speaking during the ceremony held at Igwe Ofuebe’s compound where the Vice-Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Professor Kate Omenugha, received the title of Adadioramma Ifite-Ogwari, the traditional ruler thanked God for His blessings and grace upon the community and prayed for higher attainments for the sons and daughters of the community.  

The Palace Secretary of Ifite-Ogwari, Chief Oliver Nweke explained that it is the constitutional responsibility of the traditional ruler of any community to celebrate the Ofala festival, saying that the twenty-five years Ofala festival of Igwe Ofuebe has united Ifite-Ogwari and showcased the rich cultural heritage of the community.

In their separate speeches, the Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Youth Empowerment Programme, Dr. Nelson Omenugha, and the President-General of Ifite-Ogwari Community, Engineer Peter Muonye, who felicitated with Igwe Ofuebe on his Ofala festival, noted that the traditional ceremony is a tool for creating an atmosphere of social bonding and interaction, as well as for the promotion of the people’s culture, tradition and values.
