Anambra State Govt Urges Host Communities To Protect Smart Schools Facilities

.Anambra State government has urged communities where Smart Schools are built to take ownership of the schools by safeguarding the facilities, as failure to do so may hinder further democracy dividends from being extended to such communities.

The Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Mrs Chiamaka Nnake stated this during the signing of documents for an agreement between the principals of the smart schools, Presidents-General of  host communities and the government on operational mode of the schools.

The Commissioner represented by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Budget and Economic Planning, Mr. Uchenna Kanu stressed that the signing of the agreement documents is a test to know how well they can protect government’s investments in their communities and advised them to make use of the helpline provided in the document to ask questions on issues they cannot handle, even as they will ensure that they protect the facilities in order to attract more government’s investments in their communities. 

Contributing, the Chairman, Anambra State Post Primary Schools Service Commission, Professor Nkechi Ikediugwu  appreciated Governor Chukwuma Soludo for being a man of his words by making the Smart Schools a reality and noted that the smart school is a new terrain,with huge funds committed to providing the facilities and advised the principals and host communities to go extra miles in safeguarding them while one of the students, Miss Ijeoma Adibe from Smart City Secondary School Ogbunike, thanked the Governor for providing them with smart schools where learning is no longer limited to black board and chalk but equipped with modern technologies and facilities.
