Anambra State Assembly Passes 2026 Budget

Anambra State House of Assembly has approved a total budget estimate of seven hundred and sixty-six billion, three hundred and seventy four million, four hundred and eighty seven thousand, seven hundred and five naira, for the 2026 fiscal year, following upward adjustments to both recurrent and capital expenditure components.

The approval followed the consideration and adoption of the report of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, which recommended an increase in the overall Recurrent Expenditure by seven billion, raising it to one hundred and sixty nine billion, six hundred and two million, eight hundred and two thousand, two hundred and five naira while the total Capital Expenditure was increased by one billion and four hundred and ninety million naira, bringing it to five hundred and ninety six billion, seven hundred and seventy one million, six hundred and eighty five thousand, and five hundred naira only.

In the recommendations, the Committee on Finance and Appropriation led by Honourable Ejike Okechukwu urged Ministries, Departments and Agencies to properly justify their budgetary proposals to enable timely release of funds and ensure optimal budget performance. 

Speaking after the adoption of the report, the Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Somtochukwu Udeze, said that the approval of the 2026 budget reflects the commitment of the Eighth Assembly to prudent financial management and accelerated development of the State.
