As a way of improving the health conditions of the people of Anaocha Local Government Area, the local government administration has flagged off a free prostrate cancer screening.
The program which is ongoing at St Cletus Specialist Hospital Neni targets men from forty years and above and is intended to prevent the increasing cases of the disease through early detection and featured talks on the causes, prevention and treatment of the aliment and other lifestyle choices to improve one’s health.

The Mayor of the council area, Honourable Rome Ibekwe said that early detection increases the chance of successful treatment as he explained that the hospital has state-of-the-art equipment and trained personnel to handle such cases.
A consultant urologist at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi, Dr Onyekachukwu Onu revealed that prostrate cancer is common in this side of the world because men see it as normal and refuse to go for treatment early, while some of the beneficiaries, Brother Edwin Onyebuilo and Mazi Obinna Oguocha said that they were elated by the opportunity and praised Hon Ibekwe for the initiative.
