Anambra State House of Assembly has held a valedictory session for a former member, Honourable Nelson Achukwu who represented Nnewi South Constituency Two in 2023 to 2007.
Honourable Achukwu, a businessman and public servant, was murdered by gunmen in 2022, while his body was discovered decapitated, after he had been kidnapped twice in his home town, Ukpor, Nnewi South LGA, where at first kidnapped in 2022, after which he paid a ransom and was released and shortly after, his second abduction, despite paying another ransom, he was brutally murdered.
In his tribute, the Minority Leader and member representing Nnewi South Constituency Two in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Honourable Johnbosco Akaegbobi said that despite the deceased physical challenge as a cripple, he ran several successful ventures, including real estate, block industry, and pure water business, employing over hundred people as his death has left a deep scar on the community and the Anambra State House of Assembly.
Honourable Akaegbobi, lamented the brutal and dehumanizing way in which a hardworking, disabled man was murdered, while the Speaker Right Honourable Somtochukwu Udeze paid tribute to the late Honourable Achukwu’s unwavering spirit and his significant contributions to governance in Anambra State, and encouraged the late legislator’s family to remain strong.
