Collaborations and Linkages Directorates, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University has commemorated 2025 World AIDS Day In Awka.
The event held at the Nigeria Medical Association Secretariat , Awka Zone, themed” Overcoming Disruption, Transforming The AIDS Response On Vulnerabilised Communities And HIV Innovative Strategies, attracted medical students, relevant stakeholders and was equally an avenue for training, sensitization and workshop.

Speaking on the topic, “Political Leadership and Human Rights”, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Kate Omenugha, opined that the event is part of what they do in the university which is teaching, researching and community service, adding that lack of knowledge, sensitization, ignorance and stigmatization are the greatest challenge facing people living with HIV/AIDS.

The Director, Collaborations and Linkages Directorates, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Professor Ngozi Joe-Ikechebelu, while speaking on “advocating for community based-research” explained that it is a framework that brings about social change of community members that cut across all disciplines, saying that community based-research has been operational in global north countries but not yet in Nige.
