The Bishop of Ihiala Diocese, Anglican Communion, the Right Reverend Professor Israel Okoye, has urged candidates in the forthcoming gubernatorial election to focus on issue-based campaigns that promote development and serve the collective interest of the people.
Bishop Okoye made the call during his presidential address at the third session of the fifth synod of the Diocese of Ihiala, held at Saint Stephen’s Anglican Church, Ihiala, with the theme “Fear Not”.

The bishop cautioned political candidates against engaging in social media banter and propangada but instead create opportunities for meaningful interactions with voters.

Speaking on the theme of the synod, “Fear Not” Bishop Okoye, charged Christians to place their absolute trust in God, emphasizing that He is ever faithful and capable of delivering His people in times of trouble, commending delegates and guests who attended the synod despite the security challenges in the area.
