As the November 8 governorship election approaches, Governor Chukwuma Soludo has led the campaign of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Ihiala, a local government area that was once plagued by insecurity, as they turned out in large numbers to welcome him, alongside his Deputy, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim.
Recall that during the 2021 governorship election, no candidates, including the APGA flag bearer, were able to campaign in Ihiala due to rampant violence and insecurity.

At the campaign event, Governor Soludo characterized the gathering as unique and historic, celebrated the liberation of Ihiala from non-state actors, reminding attendees that the previous election had to be rescheduled because of widespread insecurity.
While expressing his satisfaction with the current situation, the Governor credited the transformation to the efforts of stakeholders, local residents, and the security forces, reassured the ndị Ihiala that, with insecurity now behind them, more infrastructural development and prosperity will be directed towards them calling for their continued support, especially in the upcoming election.

Rev. Fr. Ernest Obiegwu, representing the Ebonesie community, shared that churches that had previously been closed are now open, with masses being celebrated for the first time in years, while Pastor Azuka Mgbochi also expressed gratitude to the Governor for his security initiatives.
Others who spoke, including Chief Nwabueze Umeh, Hon. Chika Obi, Mr. Ukatu Damian, Adaobi Orizu, and Chief Ifeanyi Orjiakor, pledged their commitment to mobilizing support for the Governor.
