The Ekwueme Square, Awka, Anambra State was bubbling in excitement as stakeholders in education sector gathered for the maiden edition of the Post Primary Schools Service Commission Students Cultural Carnival.
Queen Anigbogu reports that the carnival which attracted students, teachers, parents, officials and associates who dressed in colourful cultural attires, featured Igbo news, masquerades displays, dances and presentations of awards to deserving individuals including the traditional ruler of Umueri Igwe Ben Emeka and others.

The Anambra Commissioner for Education, Professor Ngozi Chuma-Udeh described culture as the life of people, pointing out that destruction of people’s culture is destruction of their lives and charged Ndigbo to cherish and preserve their culture at all times.

In her welcome address, the Chairman Post Primary Schools Service Commission, Professor Nkechi Ikediugwu explained that culture is the heartbeat of any society that tells their story, holds their values and gives direction to their future, while the Commissioner for Culture, Tourism and Entertainment, Comrade Don Onyenji commended PPSSC management for the colourful cultural displays by the students.
