Flooding: OADDA Calls For Dredging Of Omambala River

 A maiden town hall meeting and stakeholders’ engagement of Old Anambra District Development Association, OADDA, has ended with a call on government to dredge Omambala river as the immediate solution of the incessant flooding of the area. 

Correspondent, Amaka Onwuzulike reports that the town hall meeting with the theme “OADDA Maka Odimma Omambala” which was held at Aguleri, Anambra East Local Government Area was attended by top government officials, traditional, town union and women leaders from Omambala region as OADDA is the umbrella body of Omambala people who are located in four of the twenty-one local government councils of Anambra state namely Anambra East, Anambra West, Oyi and Ayamelum, and aimed at creating a forum to dialogue as a people with perculiar and common challenges and opportunities.

Addressing the gathering, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Legal Matters, Barrister Tobechukwu Nweke underscored the importance of the region to the development of Anambra which he said  is why the Soludo administration has prioritized the welfare and development of the area. 

In an address of welcome, the National President of OADDA, Chief Alex Onukwue said that despite the many infrastructural developmental projects that have been sited in the region, the region still needs urgent attention especially in the area of annual flooding and and regretted that the inability to address the challenge of flooding will continue to delay the speedy progress of not just the region but the state in general.
