Anambra State Government through the State Internal Revenue Service (AIRS), has arrested six illegal revenue collectors in Awka and Oye Farm Settlement in Igbariam respectively.
Parading the suspects in Awka, the Commander Special Squad, Anti Illegal Revenue Collection in the Agency, Comrade Nathan Obikwelu said that while four of the suspects were arrested in Oye Farm Settlement, one Ikechukwu Oguguo was arrested at Igbariam junction while Vincent Kenechukwu was arrested at Eke Awka market collecting illegal tolls from petty traders.
Comrade Obikwelu who gave other suspects names to include Nwabufo Nnamdi, Daniel Okoye, Igbokwu Ikechukwu and Okam Ify, said that they will be charged to court immediately to serve as deterrent to others, and commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his numerous support to the agency and extolled their chairmen, Dr. Greg Ezeilo for his innovative and purposeful leadership style.
Comrade Obikwelu warned that the special squad will continue to move round the state to fitch out those tarnishing the image of the state government by defrauding Ndi Anambra and other residents of the state.
