2025 Otite Festival: Nsugbe Community Receives  Ukwuoma Age Grade

Nsugbe community in Anambra East Local Government Area has celebrated the grand finale of the 2025 Otite Festival with joy and excitement at Ifite Quarters in Agbalagbo village, where Ukwuoma age grade was specifically recognized.

Correspondent Emmanuel Chigbata reports that the Otite festival which lasted three days, marked the end of the new yam celebration of the town, was marked with the appearance of Ukwuoma Age Grade which was inducted into adulthood, while members who dressed in colourful traditional attires, were received by the community with dances, cheers, and prayers, showing their new role as responsible adults in Nsugbe society.

The Matron of Ukwuoma Age Grade,  Mrs Obianuju Osakwe and Patron, Mr. Chukwudi Odikpo, as well as the   Mayor Anambra East Local Government Area, Engineer Chidi Obiudu expressed joy at the successful event and encouraged the newly inducted members to live up to the responsibilities of adulthood.  

Also speaking, the Chairman of the Ukwuoma Age Grade, Mr. Patrick Muofunaya, assured that the age grade is committed to contributing positively to the progress and unity of Nsugbe community, while  Lady Amaka Onwuzuluike, a member of the Ukwuoma Age Grade and staff of Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS), described the ceremony as historic.
