This period of the year, no doubt, is harvest time, especially for yam, which is being regarded as Chief food crop.
For this, the River Niger Marine Ose Onitsha is now flooded with new yam, with buyers from across the country coming with vehicles to purchase.
Correspondent, Blessing ijedibia, who was at the market observed that boats conveying the food crop sails through River Niger to Marine Ose Market Onitsha, and youths make brisk business of unloading the produce from the boats.

In a chat, a yam farmer and seller, Mr Innocent Okoye, said they recorded bountiful harvest and expressed satisfaction with the patronage they receive from buyers across the country.
Meanwhile, there is a sharp decline in the prices of some stable foods like rice and garri, as a painter of rice now sales at three thousand seven hundred naira as against six thousand naira, while a painter of garri now sales at one thousand two hundred naira.
