More Stakeholders Laud Anambra State Govt  Ban On Flamboyant Graduation Ceremonies In Schools

Stakeholders have continued to applaud Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo and Commissioner for Education, Professor Ngozi Chuma-Udeh on the recent ban on graduation ceremonies in Schools across the state, describing the move as a welcome development which will go a long way in ameliorating the sufferings of parents in seeing their children and wards through school.

Correspondents Chinenye Okafor and Jessica Kelvin report that while reacting to the development, a Community Leader in Enugwu-Ukwu, Njikoka Local Government Area, Chief Emmanuel Atuegbu said the decision of the Anambra State Government to ban the extravagant graduation parties in government, mission and privately-owned schools across the state is a proactive measure, describing Governor Soludo as a man of principle and integrity who has transformed the education system and other sectors of the state’s economy.

Chief Atuegbu lamented on the huge sum of money that schools extorted from parents before now, in the name of graduation ceremonies despite the harsh economic situation in the country, saying that the recent development will now make schools and students to focus more on academic work instead of  organizing elaborate parties.    

Contributing, the President General of Urum Community in Awka North Local Government Area, Sir Felix Oranye who also commended the initiative, pointed out that the graduation parties by schools was wickedness metted on parents who struggle a lot to pay their children’s school fees, saying that there is no need for nursery, primary and secondary schools graduation parties, as according to him the academic level that should be considered at all for graduation ceremonies should be university.
