2025 African Traditional Medicine Day: Anambra Practitioners Call For Evidence-based Trado-medicare

Anambra State Chapter of the National Association of Traditional Medicine Practitioners have joined their counterparts to celebrate 2025 African Traditional Medicine Day with a call to make traditional medicine a safe alternative to orthodox medicine.

The commemoration which has its theme as ‘Strengthen the evidence-based traditional medicine and traditional medicine practice: A way forward in Anambra State” attracted top government officials, University scholars, and participants from agencies that have to do with the trado-medicare.

Declaring the programme open at Jerome Udoji State Secretariat, Awka, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr Obiageli Uchebo said she was  hopeful that traditional medicine practitioners have learnt things that will help them make their products visible to the global market, insisting on the importance of innovation, research, data storage and management.

While delivering his address of welcome, the National Deputy President, Modern Traditional Medicine Practitioners of Nigeria, Chief Vincent Ndende disclosed that nature has bestowed on Anambra, a very rich botanical wealth, a large number and variety of plants with immense health, economic and social value that can be maximized to improve the health needs of its residents.
