Philanthropist Nwankwo  Enrols 145 Indegenes Of Nanka Community Into Anambra State Health Insurance Scheme

Philanthropist, Dr. Odiraa Nwankwo has enrolled one hundred and forty five indegenes of Nanka in Orumba North Local Government Area into Anambra State Health Insurance Scheme, aimed at giving them access to quality and affordable healthcare system.

Addressing the beneficiaries during the programme held at Nanka, Dr. Nwankwo represented by his sister, Lady Chinenye Akutaekwe explained that the gesture was designed to give the people access to quality healthcare in health facilities under ASHIA and discourage self- medication which has killed many that could not afford hospital bills. 

On his part, the Managing Director of Anambra State Health Insurance Agency, Dr Simeon Onyemaechi disclosed that the essence of ASHIA is to make payment of hospital bills very affordable for residents of Anambra,  as the state government is committed to giving residents access to healthcare at a very affordable rate, while the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike who described the programme as timely, commended the benefactor for investing in the health of his people and urged other weathy individuals in the community to emulate him.

Some of the beneficiaries, including Mr James Okoye and Christiana Okoye appreciated Dr Nwankwo for meeting their health needs through the scheme and commended Anambra State Government for putting in place health insurance that gives the less privileged individuals access to quality and affordable healthcare system.
