2025 ACSPN Empowerment Series: ABS MD Molokwu Urges Media Practitioners To Uphold Ethics, Objectivity

The Managing Director of Anambra Broadcasting Service, Mr Christopher Molokwu has charged media practitioners to apply ethics in election coverage and their reportage to enhance a better society.

Mr Molokwu made the call while speaking on journalistic responses to ethical issues in election coverage, the case of 2025 governorship election in Anambra at the 2025 empowerment series of Association of Mass Communication Scholars and Professionals of Nigeria, Anambra State chapter held at Igbariam campus of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, and explained how ethical journalism can enhance a better society.

The ABS Managing Director  emphasized that unethical practices among journalists like sensationalism, fake news, unbalanced report that stem from lack of training and financial incentives could endanger journalism and urged journalists to be objective in their reportage and always release credible information on election to the public. 

In his remarks, the Anambra State Coordinator of the Association, Dr Gideon Nwafor explained that the empowerment series which is themed “Ethics and Innovation in contemporary journalism: Navigating election coverage and Entrepreneurial opportunities in Artificial intelligence Era”, was designed to educate students journalists as well as professionals about emerging trends in mass communication, while Dr Adaobi Okeke who spoke on “Entrepreneural Journalism in the Era of Artificial intelligence turning skills into sustainable ventures”, called on practicing journalists and aspiring ones to use artificial intelligence ethically, in producing contents, news and become self reliant.
