Ten indigent women have received financial support to boost their petty businesses as the people of Enugwu village, Adazi-Enu, in Anaocha Local Government Area celebrated their 2025 New Yam Festival.
Correspondent Emmanuel Okonkwo reports that speaking shortly after performing the “iwa ji” rite, the Chairman of Enugwu village, Barrister Jideofor Okongu, who described the festival as one of the core aspects of Adazi-Enu tradition and Ndi Igbo in general, explained that they uses the annual event to assist the less privileged, and encouraged his people to remain committed to the growth and development of both the village and the entire Adazi-Enu community.


In his remark, the Mayor of Anaocha Local Government Area, Mr. Rome Ibekwe, represented by the Secretary of the council, Mr. Nonso Orakwe commended the people of Enugwu Adazi-Enu for upholding their culture and tradition, and urged them to continue supporting the Soludo administration, especially with their votes in the forthcoming November eight Anambra governorship election.


Some illustrious sons of the community, including Prince Chike Okongu, Chief Nnaemeka Enebeuwa, and Chief Amaechi Chukwuka, described the New Yam Festival as a unifying event for the village and community members, and advised Ndi Enugwu Adazi-Enu to always be their brother’s keepers.
