As Christian women begin their 2025 Annual August Meeting, the United Nation International Children Fund, UNICEF, has preached immunization against Diphtheria, exclusive breastfeeding, personal and environmental hygiene, social behavioral change (SBC) among others, to 105 communities in Anambra, with the National Orientation Agency, ABS, PHCA, NPC, ASUBEB , MOI and Women Affairs as lead facilitator.
Speaking during one of the Christian women gatherings in Awka North Local Government Area, a resource person and independent monitor for 2025 August Meeting sensitization in the area, Mrs Chineze-George Ileka, explained that this year, UNICEF was in communities across the state to ensure proper behavioral change among mothers in ensuring that children are well vaccinated, adding that the theme of the sensitization programme; “Zero dose elimination in children”, is aimed at identifying, reaching and vaccinating those that have never been vaccinated to ensure that they are brought into the immunization system.
She thanked UNICEF for ensuring safety of lives of mothers and children in the state.
On their parts, the Community Orientation and Mobilization Officer, (COMO), Anambra East Local Government Area, Mrs Chinwe Udeagha, and the Health Educator, Aguata Local Government Area, Mrs Happiness Arinze, expressed optimism that the women spoken to will carry the “good message” to the grassroots, and that there will be compliance.
