Building Collapse: NSE Chairman MaryJane Okoli Urges Developers To Engage Professionals

The Chairman, Nigerian Society of Engineers Awka branch, Engineer MaryJane Okoli has advised developers to always seek the services of trained and qualified engineers in their activities to check the recent increase in building collapse across the country.

Speaking in an interview with the ABS in Awka, Engineer Okoli expressed deep concern over the alarming rate of building collapse in Nigeria, urging relevant government agencies to partner  members of the Nigerian Society of Engineers in their respective states to ensure that all buildings and infrastructure intended for human habitation and public use meet required standards, as according to her, such collaboration is crucial in reducing the frequent incidents of building collapse, which often results in loss of lives and valuable resources.

She further advocated the inclusion of safety education in school curricula across Nigeria, and emphasized that early exposure to safety principles would help people understand and prioritize safety in all aspects of life.
