Community Secondary School, Mgbakwu has emerged winner of this year’s edition of the Chief Fidelis Nweke “Isoo Mpi Onu N’asusu Igbo” Quiz Competition, smiling home with a cheque of one million naira after defeating nine other secondary schools in Awka North Local Government Area, in the competition sponsored by Chief Nweke through his company, Rivcon Energy and Construction Co. Limited.
Correspondent Emmanuel Okonkwo reports that the Mayor of Awka North Local Government Area, Dr. ThankGod Anagor, represented by his Deputy, Mrs. Scholastica Onwugbufor, and the Chief Executive Officer of Nzuko-Ndi-Igbo Radio Programme Limited, Mazi Chukwudi Ejimofor, praised Chief Nweke for his commitment to preserving Igbo heritage, urging Ndi Igbo to remain proud of their language and culture wherever they are.
In his remarks, the sponsor of the competition, Chief Nweke, represented by Chief Pascal Iwu and former Deputy Chairman of Awka North Local Government Area,Chief Julius Emeka, expressed joy over the students’ performance.
Community Secondary School, Amansea clinched the second position and received a cheque of seven hundred thousand naira, while Community Secondary School, Achalla took third place with a five hundred thousand naira cheque, as Miss Ijeoma Adimorah of CSS Mgbakwu and Miss Rosemary Agbi of CSS Amansea expressed gratitude to the sponsor and encouraged their peers to take the study of the Igbo language seriously.
