Ahead Anambra Governorship Election NBC Urges Journalists To Uphold Professionalism, Ethical Standards

The Director General of the National Broadcasting Commission Mr. Charles Ebuebu, has charged media organizations and journalists in Anambra State to uphold professionalism and adhere strictly to ethical standards in their reportage before, during, and after the November eight Anambra gubernatorial and other elections in the state.

Correspondent, Emmanuel Okonkwo reports that Mr. Ebuebu, who was represented by the Secretary to the Commission, Mrs. Gloria Makinde, gave the charge during a one-day sensitization workshop on political broadcasting held in Awka, with the theme, “Shaping the Narrative: Ethical Broadcasting for a Credible and Peaceful Election,” and emphasized the crucial role of the media in promoting peace and fostering national development.

In his remarks, Governor Soludo, represented by the State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, acknowledged the media’s power to shape public opinion, and assured that the state government would provide a level playing field for all political parties.

Heads of media organizations in the state, including the Managing Director of Anambra Broadcasting Service, Mr. Chris Molokwu, the General Manager of Kpakpando FM, Comrade Monic Okechukwu, among others pledged to ensure that their stations will comply with the NBC guidelines throughout the election period.
