A philanthropist and an illustrious son of Umuawulu community in Awka South Local Government Area, Chief Christopher Ndubuisi has distributed farm tools worth millions of naira to farmers under ten cooperative societies in the community to enhance food security.
Correspondent Chukwuemeka Modilim reports that while flagging off the programme tagged “We Must Farm” at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church, Umuawulu Chief Ndubuisi disclosed that the farm equipment he distributed to farmers such as tricycles, fertilisers, tractors, herbicides, cassava sterms, wheel barrows among others were designed to lift the people of Umuawulu out of poverty, support agricultural productivity and minimise the challenges faced with food production.


On his part, the Anambra State Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr Foster Ihejiofor who noted that Chief Ndubuisi has laid a solid foundation for his people to prosper in Agriculture, assured that the ministry of Agriculture will support the farmers through the services of extension officers and guidance and on how best to do mechanised agricultural activities.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr Ikechukwu Obuka noted that the initiative will promote sustainable agricultural practices and appreciated the benefactor for making a big investment that will guarantee food sufficiency in the community and Anambra State in general.
