Workshop On Inclusive Electoral Reporting For Journalists Ends In Awka

Two days workshop on inclusive electoral reporting for journalists has ended in Awka, Organized by TAF Africa under the Able to Vote campaign and supported by the EU-SDGN.

The training was designed to equip reporters with tools to promote the political participation of persons with disabilities.

TAF Africa’s Program Manager, Lynn Agwuncha urged journalists to adopt inclusive storytelling and advised against local expressions that reinforce pity and called for language that affirms dignity.

Mr. Edeatan Ojo of Media Rights Agenda led sessions on ethical reporting, intersectionality, and inclusive language, urging media outfits to focus on empowerment, not stereotypes. 

Participants developed practical newsroom strategies for disability-inclusive coverage ahead of the 2025 Anambra governorship election.
