University Lecturer Onwudiwe Urges Parents To Encourage Children To Study Igbo Language

The National Association of Igbo, African and Communication Studies Students, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka has held its 2024/2025 Induction and Send-forth ceremony for students of the department.

In his remark at the event held at Faculty of Arts Auditorium of the university, the Dean, Professor George Onwudiwe explained that the day was for students of the department to showcase themselves and what they are studying, and charged parents to proudly send their children to study Igbo language because it has benefits. 

On her part, the Head of Department, Professor Nkoli Nyigide, explained that the event was to formally welcome 100-level students and send forth 400-level students, teaching them what are expected of them in their new phases of life. 

The President of the association, Mr Eric Nwokeoma, and a lecturer in the department, Professor Ifeoma Udechukwu, explained that aside formally welcoming the new students and their study of Igbo language, the event was to impact knowledge. 

The Managing Director of Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS, Mr Christopher Molokwu, UNIZIK Alumni Global President, Associate Professor Ikechukwu Umeh, who both received award of recognition, and the Keynote Speaker, Dr Chioma Anagor, admonished students to rise above the challenges of the time by being focused, prayerful and utilizing their potentials.
