Anambra State Lawmakers Team has defeated the Executive Team of the state government 4 – 1 in a friendly football match held at Awka Township Stadium as part of activities to mark the Assembly’s two years in office.

Minutes into the first half of the game, that drew spectators from across the state, the lawmakers netted their first goal, quickly followed by a second and third one before the Executive Team managed to pull one back before halftime, ending the first half in 3 – 1.
In the second half of the game, the lawmakers’ team sealed their triumph with another goal, bringing the final score to 4 – 1.


Speaking shortly after the match, the Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Somtochukwu Udeze, described the event as symbolic and meaningful, and stated that the idea behind the friendly match was to promote unity, friendship, and oneness between the legislature and executive.
