Soludo Seeks Private Sector Partnership In Education Sector As COOU Marks 25TH Anniversary

In a ceremony to mark the twenty-fifth anniversary of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Governor Chukwuma Soludo has emphasized the role of private sector partnerships in revitalizing higher education in Nigeria.

Governor Soludo, who is the visitor of the university, stated that the challenges facing public universities require innovative solutions through collaboration with the private sector and urged business leaders and entrepreneurs to invest in education infrastructure, technology, and research initiatives that align with the needs of the twenty-first-century economy. 

While celebrating the founder of the University, former Governor Chinwoke Mbadinuju, his predecessors and others who made various contributions to the growth of the university, the Governor celebrated all men of goodwill who believe that education is the bridge to the future.

The Commissioner for Education, Professor Ngọzi Chuma-Udeh said that Governor Soludo’s government, remains unwavering in its mission to elevate education as the bedrock of progress, just as the Pro-Chancellor of COOU, Professor Chidi Odinkalu noted that it has been a week-long celebration of heritage, expressing their intention of forging a future for the university. 

The Acting Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Kate Omenugha who recounted milestones in the institution, including years of stable and uninterrupted academic calendar, appreciated the Governor for his numerous strides in the university community, even as the wife of the governor Nonye Soludo was awarded honorary doctorate degree in food science and nutrition during the event.
