Anambra State Ministry of Agriculture says it will soon commence the exportation of African palm weevil and golden apple snail following the training of fifty-seven farmers.
According to the Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Foster Ihejiofor, the milestone seeks to serve as alternative feeds to livestock, nutrition to human and as well as source of income and noted that the trainees would be provided with start-up funds.

For the Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Professor Ifeyinwa Ebenebe, the young farmers will hit the ground running in the production of insects in Anambra as they were put into test through an examination before receiving certificates and urged them to maximize their knowledge through other platforms so as to continue to improve.

Some of the trainees, Justina Igwe from Enugu state, Boniface Anajemba from Okija and Onyinye Otugo from Neni both in Anambra State appreciated Governor Chukwuma Soludo for the opportunity and assured that in no distant time, the state will be one of the leading insects producing regions in Africa.
