TAF Africa Holds Voter Education In Awka For Persons With Disabilities Ahead Anambra Governorship Election

To ensure inclusion of persons with disabilities in the November eight Anambra governorship election, a Non-governmental Organization, the All Rights Foundation, Africa, has organized a one-day voter education campaign for Persons with Disabilities in Awka, for Anambra Central Senatorial District.

Correspondent, Joseph Egbeocha reports that speaking at the event tagged “Able2Vote”; which has been held in the two other Senatorial Districts in the state, the Founder of TAF Africa, Dr Jake Epelle, while commending the Independent National Electoral Commission, Security operatives, Civil Society Organizations, community leaders and the media for being partners in progress, called on Governor Chukwuma Soludo to work with INEC to ensure provision of accessible places for persons with disabilities to participate in the forthcoming election. 

In his remarks, the Anambra State Chairman of the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities, Comrade Ugochukwu Okeke, also thanked TAF Africa, INEC, Police, CSOs and the media for helping them in what they are doing in the state to encourage voter participation of their members. 

On her part, the Anambra State Resident Electoral Commissioner, INEC, Dr Queen-Elizabeth Agwu, noted that voting right is for everyone, irrespective of any form of physical disability, and is enshrined in the constitution and Electoral Act.
