ACTDA Reminds Residents Of Ban On Begging Under Aroma Awka Flyover

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority, Mr. Ossy Onuko says the ban on begging for alms under the Aroma Awka flyover is to maintain sanity that is being restored by the Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration.

Speaking to the ABS in Awka, Mr Onuko regretted that children between the ages of twelve and fourteen loiter under the flyover even during school hours, whereas the current Anambra State government has provided free education for pupils and children, adding that most of the children are being sent by their parents to beg for alms.

According to Mr. Onuko, the agency has also banned people from sharing food and money in the name of charity or almsgiving under the flyover, as such entices the children, advising such people or groups to always visit orphanage homes for such kind gestures, warning that defaulters would be severely dealt with.
