The Mayor of Awka South Local Government Area, Prince Chinedu Okafor has commended the people of Awka community for keeping to government guidelines during their visit to Umuokpu village which marked the official commencement of the 2025 Egwu Imoka festival of the community.
Speaking shortly after monitoring the conduct of the exercise which commenced the movement of masquerades, youths and major stakeholders including cultural proponents of Awka community to Umuokpu to inform them about the date for the celebration of the 2025 Egwu Imoka festival, Prince Okafor expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the exercise, saying that Awka South local government area will collaborate with Awka community stakeholders towards making the Egwu Imoka festival a carnival and tourist attraction.
Prince Okafor who personally monitored the conduct of the exercise which was done in line with government guidelines, charged the people of Awka to always be law abiding during and after the celebrations.
