Anambra State Government has commemorated 2025 World Hypertension Day, with assurance that checking of blood pressure will henceforth be free of cost in all the Primary Health Care centres and government owned secondary facilities across the State.
Addressing journalists, the State Commissioner of Health, Dr. Afam Obidike said that last two years, they did what it called solution know your number which helps people to live longer and happily, measure blood pressure accurately and monthly, and urged people who have blood pressure to maintain their drugs so that it cannot trigger stroke, saying that the day is of critical importance as it presents another opportunity to raise awareness about hypertension, one of the most prevalent, yet often overlooked, non-communicable diseases.

In her speech, the Permanent Secretary, Anambra State Ministry of Health, Dr. Obiageli Uchebo called for more sensitization and awesome creation about things that should be avoided in other for people not to have high blood pressure such as alcohol, much sugar intakes among numerous others.

The theme for this year’s campaign is “Measure Your Blood Pressure Accurately, Control It, Live Longer.”
