Pain and agony were visibly seen on the faces of youths in Nimo Community, Njikaoka Council Area, over the death of their member, Mr Ifeanyi Odibelu, shortly after his alleged ordeal in the hands of Nigeria Police Force, which was orchestrated by some other community members; as alleged.
While shops in the community remained closed over the young man’s death, youths wore black, carrying banners and leaves parading round the community with the deceased body, and later took the corpse to the houses of his alleged killers.

Speaking during the protest, a Nimo community youth, Mr Chijioke Ezedinachi, explained that the deceased was an active youth member who disappeared for days without any knowledge of his whereabouts, until a search started; only to discover that he was arrested and taken to State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Awka without any charge,, adding that the deceased died on Sunday; after days in detention and was release on Saturday.

A sister to the deceased, Miss Ukamaka Odibelu, who could not hold back tears, narrated how she gathered that his late brother, who was in his late thirties, was picked up by some persons at ‘Ezi Elias’ where he operates commercial motorcycle, adding that after searching for days in different police stations, he was discovered to be in Awka under police custody and died upon his release.
