Eight men, including seven Iranian nationals, have been arrested in two separate counter-terrorism police investigations.
Five were arrested at various locations around England as part of a pre-planned investigation into a plot to target a specific premises.
Four of those two aged twenty-nine, one aged forty and another aged forty-six are Iranian nationals and police said that the nationality and age of the fifth persons was still being established.
Home Secretary Yvette Cooper, thanked the police and security services for the action they have taken to keep the UK safe.
