Zimbabwe’s President Mnangagwa Appoints New Army Chief Ahead Planned Protests

Zimbabwe’s President, Emmerson Mnangagwa has appointed a new army chief ahead of planned protests, called by a group of war veterans who want to force the president to resign.

President Mnangagwa appointed former major general, Emmanuel Matutu, to take over with immediate effect from Lieutenant General Anselem Sanyatwe whom he retired early this week.
