Commentary: Two Fold Dedication At Church Of Restoration Nanka

All is now set for the two fold dedication at the Church of Restoration Nanka, in Orumba North Local Government Area, by the Anglican Bishop of Aguata Diocese, Right Reverend Samuel Ezeofor on Monday thirtieth December 2024, by twelve noon.

It is called two fold dedication because it comprises the dedication of the ultra-modern new church building, Church parameter fencing and interlocking as well as the overhead tanks.

These projects built by the President of Aguata Diocesan Council of Knights Sir Obiora Okeke  and his wife Lady Dr. Chioma with the family members have been attracting commendations.

The emergence of the church of Restoration Nanka dates back to early 1950’s, following complaints that older people and very young children find it difficult to trek down to Saint Matthew’s Church, Enugwu Nanka for church services and other activities.

Late Nze Okoli Ezeobidike  donated land for the church, kindergarten and primary school in the early 1950’s.

Late  Mr. Benson Nkeanyimmuo who was posted by the Anglican mission from Agulu District in 1953 to Saint Matthew’s Church and school, took the school pupils to Etiti to clear the area as an arm of the Primary School of Saint Matthew.

During the  time of Reverend Canon Jonathan Anabuike as the Vicar of Saint Mathews, Sir Obiora  and  Lady Dr. Chioma Okeke  and his family had the vision of building a church in the land provided by late Nze  Ezeobidike.  It was when Reverend Bertram Madubueze became the Vicar of Saint Matthew’s church, that the church building project kicked off.

The church foundation laying stone was done on eighteenth of February, 2024 by Right Reverend  Ezeofor  accompanied by his wife Chinyere and  some diocesan officials.

The Church was named “CHURCH OF RESTORATION” and Reverend Chinedu and Mrs Ogochukwu Ajaefobi were sent to the Church in May, 2024 as the pioneer priest.

To the glory of God  Sir Obiora and  Lady Dr. Chioma Okeke did not only built    and equipped the church; they also fenced and interlocked the church compound; built a small convenience and overhead tanks and provided a generator among other amenities.

Commendation should be given to  Sir Obiora ,his wife and family for allowing God to use them in accomplishing  this project and members of the church building committee as well as  the daughter of late Nze Okoli Ezeobidike, Mrs Charity Ezeobi and her children for their support towards the church project.

We appreciate the priest of Church of Restoration, Reverend Chinedu and Mrs Ogochukwu Ajefobi for their courage and steadfastness since becoming the resident priest of the church.

As we prepare for the two fold dedication at church of restoration Nanka on Monday thirtieth December, 2024 our prayer is that the good Lord will continue to guide the family of Sir and Lady Obiora Okeke for finding it worthy to build and edifice for God and also those who in one way or the other contributed to the success of the event especially members of the planning committee. To God be the Glory

PRINCE CHEKWUBE OFORMATA
