The United Igbo Elders Council Worldwide (UNIEC) will on Monday next week induct Chief Chidi Anyaegbu Chairman Chisco Group of Companies.
as the National Life Patron of the council.
The induction ceremony which will hold in Lagos State will attract many dignitaries from across the country and will feature among other things decoration of Chief Anyaegbu with UNIEC Worldwide Medal and presentation of UNIEC Worldwide Certificate.
The appointment is in recognition of his remarkable contributions towards uplifting Igboland, , building quality human capital for the future and supporting Think – Home Philosophy through massive investments in Igboland.
United Igbo Elders Council Worldwide is an Offshoot of ALAIGBO ACHIEVERS LEGACY, a socio-cultural umbrella body of Igbo Elders Council, consisting of Elder- statesmen, major stakeholders, opinion leaders and Leaders of Thought both within Nigeria and in the Diaspora. It is an independent movement and a child of necessity, advocating the restoration of Igbo identity, language, norms, values, tradition, cultural heritage as well as regeneration of Igbo Think-Home Investment and Development Philosophy.
Born on 13th of September, 1956 , Chief Chidi Obed Anyaegbu earned his early education at Umudim Hall and St. Andrew’s Primary School Amichi. As the first child of a large family, it was clear that going further in education would not be helpful to uplift the family. He had already demonstrated his knack for excellence and hard work by winning group student farming and competitive handwork curriculum at the primary school. To transform these unique skills , he turned into an inventor of wooden truck, ụgbọ nkụ. He built the first eye popping wooden truck, ụgbọ nkụ Chidi, that carried a lot more loads than he was carrying by head. It was at this time that he started charging money to recoup his investment and maintain the truck. As he progressed, the parents decided that he should explore more of his potential not in the village but learning and trading in motor spare parts business.
After the statutory period of apprenticeship, the hardworking and visionary Chidi, with his 120 naira settlement, became the Biblical laborer that grew his one farthing as he grew to dominance in the industry. Chief Anyaegbu never forgot how it all started as he went back from Ụgbọ Nkụ Chidi to present day Chisco Transport. His other businesses include, CTN Express Haulage, Havilah Air Services, Chisco Energy, Park Place Hotels, Villa Angelia Boutique Hotels and Fulham Properties in multipie locations among others.
Chisco group has become a recognizable labor employer in Nigeria a with over 2,000 full time employees all over the country. Successive governments have recognized him in this regard.
While enterprising in many areas of business, Chief Anyaegbu went back to school and attended Yaba College of Education Evening Programmes and later to University of Lagos law program. He also attended business management and Logistic courses in many reputable Universities in Brazil, Germany, France, UK and Pen State University in USA. He earned many honorary degrees from universities from around the world, including doctorate degree from Houston, Texas and Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka as well as received many awards.
As God has continued to bless him in wealth through hard work and perseverance, Chief Anyaegbu never lost sight of the poor market women as he continues to fights for the oppressed and less privileged members of the society. It is his love of helping the poor and less privileged that led him to institute annual medical mission in Amichi with a lot of expert doctors from all over the world. Orphanage homes both here in Lagos and in the Southeast benefit from his big heart. Chief Anyaegbu has built many houses for the poor in Amichi over the years and makes huge impact on a daily basis with feeding of villagers and sustainance of lives.
Through the Dr. Chidi Anyaegbu Foundation hundreds of scholarships have been offered to students who cannot afford higher education. . He built a school of Logistics and Transportation Management at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka and donated 100m naira to run the school.
Through his influence and commitment to rural developments, roads, bridges, electricity and other development infrastructure have come to communities.
He married his heart trobv Mrs. Julie Anyaegbu in 1982 which cemented God’s work in his life .
On Monday December sixteen, the United Igbo Elders Council Worldwide will honour this giant in socioeconomic space of Nigeria as an incentive and motivation for Nigerians to be the best they can to the society.
