During his second-term inauguration at Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square, Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State called on the people of the South-East to consolidate their political influence behind President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
The ceremony, held in the state capital, Awka, saw the State Chief Judge, Justice Onochie Anyachebelu, administer the Oath of Office to Governor Soludo and Deputy Governor Onyekachukwu Ibezim.
The event drew a high-profile audience, including Vice President Kashim Shettima and former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan.
Governor Soludo advised the Igbo community against dispersing its electoral strength among alternative candidates, suggesting that the region should instead provide full support to the incumbent President.
While acknowledging the importance of the South-East’s political future, the Governor indicated that the timing for a President from the region is not currently favourable, expressing strong confidence in the Federal Government and pointing to positive shifts and developments that he believes are already benefiting the South-East.
Governor Soludo described President Tinubu as a dedicated and capable leader who is expected to deliver substantial progress for both the nation and the region.
Beyond national politics, the Governor addressed local frictions, appealing to political rivals within Anambra to move past previous disputes and emphasizing that the period of electoral competition has ended and that the collective focus must now shift toward effective governance and state development.
Vice President Shettima commended Governor Soludo for his intellectual approach to public service and integrity-driven leadership, reaffirming the Federal Government’s commitment to collaborating with the Anambra State Government and stressing that citizens’ welfare must remain a priority over partisan interests.
The Vice President further encouraged residents to support ongoing initiatives aimed at transforming Anambra into a premier destination for investment and economic activity in Nigeria.
