The Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo prominently participated in the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration held at Dr Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka.



The solemn event which served to honor the bravery and sacrifices of Nigeria’s military personnel, featured a series of activities including a wreath-laying ceremony, release of pigeons and military parades, while Governor Soludo, senior military officers and government officials, laid a wreath at the memorial monument to pay tribute to fallen heroes who gave their lives in service of the nation.


In his remarks, Governor Soludo lauded the courage and unwavering commitment of Nigeria’s armed forces in safeguarding peace and security across the country, emphasizing the importance of remembering the sacrifices made by soldiers and called for continued support for the security personnel to enhance national stability.
The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is observed annually on January fifteen as part of regional activities recognizing military service.
