The Anambra State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Professor Silvia Ifemeje has called for collective action to facilitate effective implementation of the Freedom of Information ACT.
In a key note address at the South-East Regional Roundtable on Fourteen Years of the Freedom of Information Act in Nigeria, organized in Awka, by the Centre for Transparency Advocacy, in collaboration with the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption Programme (RoLAC), International IDEA, and the European Union, Professor Ifemeje represented by the Solicitor General of Anambra State, Barrister Ngozi Iwuno opined that the Act compliance should be institutionalized across all levels of government and digital platforms should be leveraged on to facilitate proactive disclosure of information ,while the Act should also be part of civic education curricular , noting that Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration is running an open door policy that promotes transparency and accountability.

In her welcome addresses, Executive Director, Centre for Transparency Advocacy Engineer Faith Nwadishi , represented by Mr MacDonald Ekemezie said the conversation was part of efforts to deepen transparency, accountability, and citizens’ engagement in the country as well as easily obtain clear, timely, and complete information from most government agencies, while the State Coordinator of RoLAC, Dr Josephine Onah, represented by Mr Shedrack Nwaekeagu noted that transparency and accountability will encourage grassroots participation in governance.
In their separate contribution a , the Anambra State Director, National Orientation Agency, NOA, Mr Edozie Ajaegbu, represented by Mr Ignatius Obiora , former Rector Federal Polytechnic Oko, Professor Godwin Onu, Chairman of the interactive session, Professor Tochukwu Okeke and Mrs Ugochi Freeman stressed the need to sustain such dialogue for better enlightenment of the people.
