Two Years Anniversary; Anambra State Assembly Reaffirms Commitment Towards Deepening Democratic Governance, Advancing Development

As the eighth Anambra Assembly marks its second anniversary, the Speaker of the House, Right Honourable Somtochukwu Udeze, has reaffirmed the assembly’s commitment to deepening democratic governance and advancing the developmental goals of the state.

Speaking during a special nrws session which also coincided with Nigeria’s Democracy Day, Speaker Udeze recounted the strides made by the eighth assembly since its inauguration in 2023, highlighting the passage of seventy-five motions, thirty-one laws, thirty of which have been assented to.

Speaker Udeze also revealed plans for the full digitalization of House proceedings, construction of a Legislative Service Commission complex, and the establishment of new civic engagement frameworks, while lauding Governor Chukwuma Soludo, for his partnership and support, noting that the executive’s synergy with the legislature has been instrumental to the assembly’s achievements. 

Speaking on their achievements, the Majority Leader of the House, Sir Ikenna Ofodeme, Deputy Majority Leader,  Dr Jude Akpua, and member representing Orumba South Constituency, Engr. Emma Nwafor, among others praised the collective will of the lawmakers, noting that the assembly has remained committed to its tripartite mandate of legislation, oversight and representation.
