Anambra State Assembly Calls For Installation Of Pedestrian Signals At Completed Road Intersections

 The Anambra State House of Assembly has passed a resolution calling on Governor Chukwuma Soludo to direct the Commissioner for Transport to urgently complete the installation of pedestrian signals at all completed road intersections across the state.

According to the member representing Orumba South Constituency, Engineer Emma Nwafor, who moved the motion, while some traffic lights have been installed, pedestrian signals are yet to be integrated, which poses risks to road users while adding that absence of pedestrian signals could lead to collisions.  

Supporting the motion, the member representing Ogbaru Constituency One, Honourable Noble Igwe, the Majority Leader, Sir Ikenna Ofodeme and member representing Njikoka Constituency Two, Dr Jude Akpua stated that the motion was well captured as it is the primary responsibility of the government to ensure the safety of its citizens.    

The Speaker Right Honourable Somtochukwu Udeze read out the resolution and commended Engineer Nwafor for the motion, adding that their primary responsibility is to checkmate the executive.
