An Environmentalist, Mr Chukwuebuka Ezike, has called on the people to always engage in the activities that will continue to safeguard the environment.
Speaking to the ABS on the 2025 World Environment Day observed yesterday, Mr Ezike, who regretted the unfriendly attitude of the people towards the environment, called on government at different levels to map out stringent penalty for those caught in environmental abuses, and warned the people against indiscriminate dumping of refuse.
Mr Ezike, while calling on the government to ensure adequate budgetary allocations to the Ministry of Environment annually; in view of environmental challenges facing the people, especially erosion, landslide, deluge, among others which have continued to claim many lives, however called for the compulsory teaching of environmental studies in schools and colleges to inculcate in students sound teachings and conduct about the environment.
