Former Ohaneze Ndigbo VP Okeke Ogene Tasks Leaders On People Oriented Governance To Strengthen Democracy

The Nigerian leaders have been urged to put interest of the masses above every other consideration to raise their standard of living and reduce hardship.

Speaking in Awka, the immediate past Vice President of Ohaneze Ndigbo worldwide, Chief Damian Okeke Ogene said this will strengthen democratic structures and principles as well as promote good governance at all levels of administration.

Chief Okeke Ogene noted that while Nigeria has made appreciable progress in trying to institutionalize tenets of democracy in the last twenty six years, the country is still challenged by insecurity, corruption, ethnicity and marginalization of some segments of the country.

He noted that people of Anambra State are some of the major beneficiaries of democratic rule as successive administrations in the state made inputs to uplift the state while Governor Soludo’s government has redefined good governance and launched the state on course of sustainable development.
