Illicit Drugs: Six Suspects Arrested As Anambra CP Orutugu Worries Over Increasing Drug Consumption Among Youths

Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Dr. Ikioye Orutugu, has frowned at the relative rise in drug consumption by   youths, noting that drugs are the oxygen that drive most crimes and bad behaviors exhibited by individuals.

Speaking on the arrest of six suspects, including a female drug dealer, and discovery of a large quantity of dried leaves suspected to be hard drugs and other incriminating hard substances in Isuaniocha, Awka North Local Government Area, CP Orutugu expressed willingness to step up advocacy against illicit drugs through a Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices, POCACOV, a program targeted to sensitize the youths on the dangers of drugs and other vices in the state.

According to a statement issued by the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, “All the suspects shall be transferred to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Awka for further necessary actions”.

The statement explained that Police operatives attached to the Special Cultism Squad, Obosi Sector in the early hours of Friday, 30th May burst into the drug trafficking network while acting on credible information burst into a drug trafficking network.
