The Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Mr Tony Collins-Nwabunwanne has assured the people of Umunya in Oyo Local Government Area that due process would be followed in the conduct of election for a new traditional ruler of the community.
Mr Nwabunne gave the assurance when the people paid solidarity visit to Governor Chukwuma Soludo at the Government House in Awka, commended them for being peaceful and made it clear that Anambra State Government allows every community to choose their traditional ruler by themselves. Earlier in his remarks, the leader of the group, Chief Sunday Ononeze alleged that the President General of the community, Chief Chinedu Ekwugha has not conducted election for the office of the traditional ruler of Umunya as directed by the state government even after the time frame given to him for that had elapsed.
