Prayer has always been an essential part of spiritual growth and cultivating relationship with God. That is why we always pray for ourselves, our friends and our families. We also need to pray for our nation Nigeria, as well as other Nations.
If we pray for our nation, it will impact on freedom of worship, an improved economy, liberation from poverty, marginalization, injustice, terrorism, corruption and violence.
Prayer is so important that the first President of the United States of America, George Washington modeled the citizenry on how to pray for their country. The State of Israel, on their part, know the essence of prayer each time they are confronted by their enemies.
Prayer is very vital for Nigeria’s well-being, as well as promotion of peace, unity and spiritual growth, while also fostering a sense of hope and resilience in the face of adversity.
Today, Nigeria is challenged by insurgency, terrorism, political turmoil, disunity, and religious bigotry, ethnic and divisive tendencies. Similarly, kidnappings, killings, return to idolatry, hard drugs and the neo prostitution of young girls in search of the golden fleece have become serious source of concern to many Nigerians.
As a nation, irrespective of diverse religious, social, political and ethnic divide,
liberty is not possible without a moral civil society. Nigerians should depend on God for peace, security and good governance. According to the Bible, righteousness exalts a nation.
It is sad that Nigeria, once the hope of Africa is now a debtor nation, with hunger, poverty and insecurity holding the citizens in bondage.
If Nigerians can, in reality, humble themselves and pray, and seek the face of God and improve their life styles, the Almighty Father will surely hear from heaven and heal the land. As a nation, Nigerians can use prayer to seek God’s wisdom and guidance in addressing national issues and promoting ethical leadership.
Above all, prayer can help build a spiritual foundation for Nigeria, fostering a sense of hope and resilience in the face of the current challenges.
